The Opening Act

I don't know about you, but at our house, deciding which movie to watch can sometimes take just as long as watching the actual movie! We hem and we haw....We bicker and debate....We push for our favorites, and settle for our spouse's...
We grew tired of wading through our own personal Blockbuster of DVD's, and decided to watch our movies in a new way...granted a somewhat original (or OCD) way; but a way that works for us. David and I are going to watch our movies in alphabetical order...all 230 of them (and yes, I just went and counted.) The rules are as follows:
1. The movies will be watched in alphabetical order (no switching or swapping letters around.)
2. We must watch the movies as they come up WITHOUT skipping them. (You cannot say, "I don't really feel like watching that one.")
3. No complaining or arguing

We began our new movie-watching method last night. We decided that summer was a perfect time to get to know some of our old movies, as TV is pretty much worthless during the summer months. So, as we re-watch the films that for one reason or another we've deemed worthy to purchase (and so help me, I do not know why we own several of these things..), I decided to start a new blog that takes a look at the lessons and deeper truths that can be pulled from these films.

I believe that with the exception of a handful of movies, there is something to be learned from the stories the writer/director/etc. set out to tell. Movies are supposed to make us feel; and the best movies are the ones we can connect to ourselves in some way...inspiring us, making us think...Even the films meant to simply take us somewhere else...or just make us laugh have hidden gems of wisdom...I am setting out to find them, and will document what I learn in this blog. From A-Z, I believe our movies will teach me something....just watch and learn!
